The first of six sets to be published this week, all recorded at this past Sunday’s Jazz Meet Cancer Benefit. First up we have the opening set from resident DJ Sid Ford who eases into the session with some classic jazz business. Featuring music from the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Joki Freund Jazztett, Elvin Jones, Longineu Parsons and Walt Dickerson, this is a journey into esoteric territory. Big music and can anyone tire of hearing Jimmy Smith’s seminal ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ again?
