After a little break, we return with a killer mix of Fender Rhodes based jazz music from British jazz collector and DJ Tony Higgins. After his recent Japanese jazz mix, we are thrilled to host this second selection and it’s chock full of assorted flavours with the only constant being that all of the songs feature the use of the much celebrated electric piano. And boy does it sound great for it! Kicking off with Mikio Masuda’s sublime ‘Let’s Get Together’, the mix deeps and weaves through vocal jazz, straight up soul jazz and a little fusion here and there, with tracks from the likes of Barry Miles, Horace Silver (with Andy Bey), Duke Pearson, Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, Primo Kim and one of the dons on the Fender Rhodes, Frank Cunnimodo all featuring. The mix culminates with an awesome piece of music from early 70s Ian Carr and Nucleus. If you dig music with a certain degree of smoothness (not too much though!), we expect you to enjoy this one… it’s a gem! Until next week…
