Jazz Meet resident Jarred Rice supplies the goods this week with another selection of jazz-fuelled wonders. We kick things off with something new and noteworthy from the Jessica Lauren Four and the bluesy ‘I Believe’ followed by another track from the soon to be reissued Azanyah LP on Jazzman Records. We head deeper into spiritual jazz territory with MaseQua Myers & Jami Ayinde’s ‘Black Land of The Nile’ and Doug Carn’s ‘Power and Glory’ featuring the powerful vocals of his then very talented missus, Jean. Maxine Weldon gives us ‘Chilly Wind’ before we revisit the Carmen Lundy classic ‘Lamp is Low’. 2bo4 drop their own version of Carlos Garnett’s ‘Banks of the Nile’ and we round things off with a trio of tracks from Air, Patsy Gallant and finally, Jimmy Cobb. Jarred is DJing alongside fellow resident Rob Coley and special guest Blast Kid the Jazz Kid this coming Sunday at Floripa in Hoxton as we welcome back The Greg Foat Group to the Jazz Meet stage.
