Charismatic British vocalist Imaani takes to the Floripa stage this week as she joins the resident Jazz Meet Band for an evening of energetic soul jazz. Having completed seven world tours with legendary Acid Jazz pioneers, Incognito, she is currently enjoying a burgeoning career as a solo artist in her own right. She will be backed by acclaimed pianist Jessica Lauren and saxophonist Jake Telford, as well as some of London’s finest jazz musicians.
In the DJ box this week we have resident Nik Weston and special guest selector Mark GV Taylor from Happy Jazz Radio. An expert in Brazilian music, as well as jazz, funk, soul and Latin from the 1980s and beyond, Mark is a record collector in the truest sense and an excellent DJ, always digging deeper than most to unearth those rare and undiscovered gems. We look forward to welcoming him to The Jazz Meet for what is a long overdue début set. We kick off at 5pm but if you’d like to enjoy one of our famous Brazilian inspired roasts and a cocktail or two, arrive before 3.30pm to catch this week’s Domingo Cineclub film. Free entry all day.
