Anyone that caught the second part of our 2010 jazz retrospective would have found (not so) deeply buried in the mix a deep and melodic piece of music from producer and drummer Nick Woodmansey AKA Emanative and Mancunian trumpeter Matthew Halsall entitled “Find You”. Originally taken from the album ‘Time“, the composition was one of many new tracks nestled amongst contemporary remixes of music taken from Emanative’s companion piece “Space” released in early 2009 on Futuristica Music.
Both albums featured our very own Jessica Lauren on keys and also brought to the fore a trio of vocalists in the form of Deborah Jordan (Panacea, Silhouette Brown), Heidi Vogel (Likwid Biskit, Cinematic Orchestra) and Nik’s own wife Liz Elensky.
It appears that Liz has been back in the studio and is gearing up to release some of her own work because as of today an absolutely delicious version of the Dizzy Gillespie standard “A Night In Tunisia” appeared online attributed to Liz alongside a new acoustic song entitled “A Song For You”, recorded with Barry Green on piano. A little further digging also reveals a version of another standard, Chick Corea‘s “You’re Everything”, which was recorded by Liz back in August of last year alongside a trio of musicians (Green again on Piano, Dave Whitford on Bass, and Matt Home on Drums). Stream and download all three tracks by using the controls below, and keep your eye out for her return to the UK jazz scene with her brand new Emanative produced album shortly
Beautiful happy feel good music. Simply pure quality!
