We return to the mixtape game with a mammoth selection of jazz-orientated goodies from On The Corner Records boss Pystol Pete. With the label’s first release from lone astral jazz traveller emanative now in the bag (get it here), he shared this mix with us to show off some of his influences. It’s certainly a round the world affair with the Latin-tinged ethno-jazz of Salah Ragab and Solomon Ilori‘s Afro-flavoured deep jazz rubbing shoulders with South American gems from Antonio Carlos Jobim & Luiz Bonfá, and Domingo Cura. The USA is of course dutifully covered by among other Scott-Heron, Coltrane, Tolliver and Sanders while our own jazz empress, Jessica Lauren represents London with the effortlessly funky ‘Serengeti’. Things are brought to a close with the haunting ‘I’mm You’mm We’mm’ from the great Miriam Makeba. Get inside the mix and then hit up the label here.
