This week we’re proud to present this little selection from resident Sid Ford. Originally mixed, pressed and distributed to promote ‘File Under Jazz’, a Shoreditch jazz night Sid started back in 2006, this awesome CD has been dug up from the archives for another airing. Chock full of soulful, funky jazz numbers aimed straight at the talcum powdered dancefloor, it’s a worthy contender for our (official) 50th cloudcast and we hope you enjoy discovering (or rediscovering!) the rare grooves inside. Johnny Frigo, Joe Henderson, Cold Blood, Shirley Scott, Bobby Bryant and Doug Carn are just some of the names featured on the tracklist but believe us when we say all the music is top-notch. There’s a 2nd mix in the series that we may track down in the future, but for the meantime, enjoy this little gem and if you’re in London this Sunday, pop into The Shoreditch, E1 to catch the man himself and fellow resident Jarred Rice holding down the decks while The Jazz Meet Band play their own unique brand of live jazz from 5pm.
