The first of a double-header this week as resident Nik Weston (MUKATSUKU) drops another mix into the Jazz Meet office and as usual it’s chock full of jazzy goodness. We start with a lovely version of Oliver Nelson’s ‘Stolen Moments’ by The Band featuring James Thompson from a rare Italian private press, before slipping into some Japanese business with two tracks from a pair of recent Wax Poetics Jazz 12s (You know how Nik does!). We dip back into the past with some classic Les DeMerle, Charlie Rouse and Jimmy Owens manoeuvres before bumping up the brass again for some bold, big band shenanigans from Peter Herbolzheimer and his Rhythm Combination & Brass outfit and the extremely funky ‘Wild Chick’. Rounding things off we have another brand new and boisterous Latin workout from those Soil & “PIMP’ boys. Essential. As always, we hope you enjoy this little selection, and keep your eyes peeled for something a little extra later this week. Thanks for listening!
