Here’s another heavyweight guest mix for you, this time from British collector and DJ Tony Hylton. Greatly influenced by the UK’s jazz dance elite of the late 80s, over the past 20 years Tony has DJed across the country and is currently a regular guest at the UK’s foremost jazz dance clubs Out To Lunch (Nottingham) and Shiftless Shuffle (London). Here he supplies us with a small 45 minute taster of his expansive record collection. Kicking off with the excellent ‘Watarase’ by Takeo Moriyama, the tempos duck and weave as Tony presents a true selection of jazz dance killers. We hope you enjoy the mix and if you dig, drop Tony a comment or two.
Tony will be DJing alongside Nick Hosier at Shiftless Shuffle at East Village this Sunday, before dropping into our inaugural Jazz Meet next door at Floripa to give us a further taste of his skills. If you’re in the Shoreditch area, make sure you pay us both a visit as it’s going to be one hell of a day for the casual jazz fan.
