For our 75th Jazz Meet mix, we welcome British jazz collector and DJ Tony Higgins AKA TonyTales back into the fold for a cracking Nimbus West label special. What follows is a perfect introduction to the US imprint, active predominantly in the late 70s and early 80s and home to Horace Tapscott and his Pan-Afrikan People’s Arkestra, Dadisi Kamolafe, Adele Sebastian, Nate Morgan and the Creative Arts Ensemble with BJ Crowley. A 45 minute mix, recorded from the orginal LPs (many of which are scarce and long out of print), it’s a pleasure that through Tony we can help shine a light (albeit briefly) back on some of these long forgotten treasures. If you like your jazz deep, rare and spiritual, then you’re going to love this, and for the rest of you we hope you enjoy this quick listen from one of London’s deepest jazz heads.
