For this week’s mixtape we present another foray into European Jazz but this time around it’s strictly of the Belgian variety. Yes, to coincide with this weekend’s Brussels Jazz Marathon and The Jazz Meet’s maiden voyage abroad, our friend Lander Lenaerts AKA The Jazz Kid has put together this excellent mix of Belgian jazz flavours for your listening enjoyment. There’s plenty of favourites deep in the mix including Open Sky Unit’s uplifting track of the same name, a killer version of ‘Vera Cruz’ by Steve Bouben and Rene Costy’s famously sampled composition ‘Scrabble’ to name but a few. Elsewhere, you’ll find further goodness from Marc Moulin’s Placebo, Stella Marrs, Raphaël and Hein Huysmans Kwintet. We hope you enjoy the mix and if you do find yourself Brussels this weekend, make sure to pop into Bonnefooi on Saturday night where Lander and Jazz Meet residents Jarred Rice and Rob Coley will be hosting a night of live jazz with guests Binti and Gratitude Trio!
