The Jazz Meet heads to Brussels this weekend for a Saturday night party in the heart of the city alongside our good friend The Jazz Kid and live acts Binti and Gratitude Trio.Â
We are very pleased to be hopping on a Eurostar this weekend to present our first overseas Jazz Meet affiliated event on mainland Europe. This Saturday at Cafe Bonnefooi in Brussels, Jazz Meet residents Jarred and Rob will be making the trip to spin records with our Belgian friend The Jazz Kid as we present a little evening of jazz fuelled fun in the centre of town, and the city brings its own annual three-day Jazz Marathon to a close. Also on the bill are two live acts, Binti and Gratitude Trio who will both be performing live on the night.
The six singing Holail siblings, who are collectively known as Binti, grew up with music around them, so it was only a matter of time before they took up the craft themselves and as sisters, they take vocal harmony to a new emotional and spiritual level. With a repertoire that takes in elements of jazz, blues, soul and reggae, and six different voices that ultimately combine to bring one complete sound, we have to say we are very much looking forward to seeing them in action.
From Midnight, when all the other Jazz Marathon concerts have finished, we welcome Gratitude Trio to the Bonnefooi stage for a special early morning jazz session. Led by renowned Belgian tenor saxophonist Jeroen Van Herzele and composed of Alfred Vilayleck on electric bass and Louis Favre on drums, the trio will be playing a set of modern contemporary jazz with a classic feel. One for the real jazz heads. Once the live sets are complete, all three DJs will take to the decks to run proceedings through till dawn with fiery jazz dance and Latin and Brazilian jazz music.
If you’re Brussels bound this weekend, we do hope you can make it. The night promises to be pretty special!
