After the dramas of last week in Japan, London has literally clubbed together this week to host a number of benefits this weekend to raise money for the Japanese population and further relief efforts to start getting the country back on track. Jazz Meet resident Nik Weston will be DJing at the ‘Pray For Japan’ event at The New Empowering Church in Hackney on Friday night alongside a star-studded cast of DJs that include Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge, Kay Suzuki, Aroop Roy, Koichi Sakai and live performances from Vanessa Freeman and United Vibrations. All proceeds from the event (donations and £5 entry fee) will go to the The British Red Cross’s Japan Tsunami Appeal. Please peep the flyer above for full address details. If you can make the night or even help spread the word it would be appreciated.
In preparation for the gig and to pay his own respects to the country that has shown him so much love over the years, GP has dropped a little tribute mix on Mixcloud this week. Listen to the mix below and check the event on Facebook.
