So… apologies for it being a day or two late but unfortunately there was a football game on last night (We use the term unfortunately in both senses but leave it there, this isn’t a football blog!). At least Sunday was good eh?
A big thank you to all those that made it down to The Shoreditch on Sunday. Kind of a new spot after it’s recent redevelopment but still nice enough for us to kick off the second Jazz Meet in style. The band played a near two hour set from the off as they were vibing so deep and then returned for more in the second set, the swinging, percussive version of ‘Afro Blue’ Â being a particular highlight. Â You can check some very rough videos from the day in the video section (Have to say the red lighting, although nice on the day is a bugger to capture video on). And a special shout to our special guest DJ Sid Ford who dropped a lovely selection of alternative dancefloor jazz classics to end the night. Working on finalising the date for April but hopefully we should have some sort of announcement shortly.
In the meantime, here’s Mr Ford’s mix in all it’s glory. A 50 minute killer selection of jazz featuring music from Cedar Walton and the Eastern Rebellion, Randy Watson, Donald Byrd and Cal Tjader to name but a few. Check the full tracklist and stream below, and don’t forget that if you want the full MP3 to rock on your portable, we send it out pretty much straight after this blog post hits the press in our weekly newsletter. You can sign up here. Until next week…
