This week we drop another guest mix, this time around from Mr Jim Lister AKA Jimmy Jean, a man who we think it’s fair to say has probably one of the deepest and dopest collections in London and the encyclopaedic knowledge that goes with it. Here he dons his jazz hat to drop a little Springtime inspired jazz mix for the Meet and boy does it deliver.
A little Matthew Halsall magic (from his 2009 debut ‘Sending My Love’. Seek) kicks off the mix, before Jimmy Heath and Kenny Garrett warm things up on a funky jazz tip. A little mellow vocal excursion from Vanessa Rubin follows before two killer tracks from Grant Green and Dieter Rieth precede the fiery jazz fusion of The Crusaders’ Joe Sample. The deep Strata vibe of Regeneration‘s ‘Trying To Find A Way’ takes us into the home straight, before Milt Jackson‘s much sampled ‘Enchanted Lady’ and the immense ‘Sun Song’ from everyone’s favourite jazz warbler, Leon Thomas round off the mix. We hope you enjoy.
