This Sunday We welcome Belgian DJ Lander Lenaerts back to Jazz Meet DJ box for what promises to be another essential date in our ongoing event diary. Of course, we are no stranger to the man himself, with Lander having guested at only our second party at Floripa just under a year ago and of course, he’s also completed two mind-blowing mixes for us in our continuing mixtape series under his old DJ moniker Blast Kid. With his impending arrival back on London soil though, we thought it was about time we caught up with him once again to inquire what was currently floating his musical boat. And what a boat it must be, as after more than a decade of DJing and collecting vinyl in his native Belgium and occasional trips across Europe, checking dusty record stores Lander has accumulated a serious wealth of the black stuff and the comparable knowledge
After a successful year at The Shoreditch cocktail bar, The Jazz Meet collective is proud to be embarking on a new weekly residency at the recently renovated Brazilian influenced restaurant and club Floripa in Old Street, London. Yes, starting March 18th, and twice a month thereafter, the Jazz Meet House Band (hosted by Jake Telford (OK-MA) on sax and Jessica Lauren (Freestyle Records) on keys and featuring a rotating cast of London’s brightest session musicians) will again be taking the stage to offer the centrepiece of the night’s live music segment and to supply their own unique brand of live soul jazz. This month we’ll also be joined by The Greg Foat Group (jazzman Records) and DJs Tony Hylton and Lander Lenaerts.
