Ahead of last night’s Jazz Meet session at Floripa, we got a little taster mix from special guest selector Koichi Sakai, DJ and promoter of London club nights GHETTO LOUNGE and Afrobeat Vibration to get you in the mood! Chock full of fiery Afro Latin rhythms, Koichi pulls out some of his favourite dancefloor jazz moments over 45 minutes, kicking things off with music from Juanito Grandes y Su Orchestra and then weaving in and out of tunes from the likes of The Quartette Trés Bien, The Robin Jones Seven, Elvin Jones and everyone’s favourite Latin Jazz pioneers Clare Fischer and Cal Tjader! By the time Roy Haynes‘ furiously fast ‘Quiet Fire’ rounds off the set, you’ll be dowsing the floor with talcum powder ready for another spin. We hope you enjoy this cheeky little selection and thank you for listening. Make sure to check the Ghetto Lounge website here.
