So as December draws to a close, let’s get a little festive! At this time of year, in between bouts of frantic shopping, the mood always seems to lend itself to more reflective and calming influences, and on this front, this little selection from our good friend Tom Greig certainly delivers. In Tom’s own words, the mix ‘was devised for listening to when going back home to stay with my family in the countryside, over the Christmas period, and having something that would fit the mood. So there is some deep jazz here and also some jazz with a religious and contemplative feel – without ever being overtly “Christmassy”‘. An 80 minute compilation for the long, dark, cosy winter nights, when he passed it to us a few months back it only seemed right that we brought to a close this year’s regular mixtape series with this beautiful effort. We hope you enjoy listening and from all of us at The Jazz Meet and of course Tom, we wish you all the very best this festive season.
