This week at The Jazz Meet we pay homage to one of the great jazz pianists, Mr Herbert Jeffrey “Herbie” Hancock. Arguably one of the most influential (and controversial) figures in the genre since its inception, we welcome pianist Tom O’Grady back to The Jazz Meet as he revisits, alongside his band, some of Hancock’s best loved compositions. Herbie has always served as the main inspiration for Tom’s career and having meticulously transcribed many of the pianist’s tracks and acquired an arsenal of vintage keyboards that reflect the setup used on those classic albums of the ’70s, this promises to be a night to remember. In the DJ box, Jazz Meet residents Rob Coley and Sid Ford will be further dipping into the back catalogue, mixing up some of the pianist’s well known dancefloor classics with a few lesser known obscurities and alternative versions from other artists. Happy hour drinks 5pm-7pm. First live set 7.30pm. Free Entry. Floripa’s delicious Brazilian Roasts from 1pm.
