Earlier this year, Cecilia Stalin, the Swedish born, London dwelling singer released her brand new album ‘Step Like a Giant’ into the digital marketplace. Although not strictly a jazz release in it’s traditional form (purists sit down!), it was Cecilia’s heartfelt homage to the late, great John Coltrane and features a number of emotive takes on some of his most famous compositions. We kick off our May programme with a bumper bank holiday Sunday night session at Floripa on May 6th with Swedish songstress Cecilia Stalin and her band performing material from her recently released John Coltrane tribute project “Step Like A Giant”. Expect electro jazz and nu soul versions of some of the jazz master’s music with a few surprises along the way.

VIDEO: The Jazz Meet in April
So with May just around the corner, let’s take a quick look back at some of April’s highlights at Floripa. We welcomed performers Heidi Vogel and Al Scott onto the Jazz Meet stage for two brilliant guest gigs and the house band continued to wow the crowds with some seriously killer sessions (particularly now we’ve welcomed our boy Francesco Mendolia back into the fold on drums!).
