With another of our Brazilian Carnival specials lingering on the horizon, we thought it was about time we caught up with this week’s special guest DJ Adrian Leach and get him to take us through a few choice cuts in his record collection ahead of his set this Sunday. When it comes to jazz, Latin and Brazilian music, Adrian’s pedigree is second to none, having amassed an enviable catalogue of tunes tracked down over many a year. For anyone who already listens to his much celebrated Happy Jazz radio show, which he co-hosts alongside long time cohort Mark Taylor (also coming to a Jazz Meet near you in March!), you can attest that he brings the heat on a regular basis, so we are obviously excited that he’s finally able to join us at the Meet, on this, our third time of asking! If you checked his last effort for us back in June of last year you know this particular gentleman doesn’t mess about when it comes to his selections. For this session Adrian has put together a scintillating sample of jazz from South America (an area of the world that his radio shows consistently specialise in). There is lots of rareness to be uncovered so delve in to experience plenty of Fender Rhodes moments, fusion touches, haunting vocals, cosmic synths and stinging brass and above all, great musicians that rarely get the exposure they deserve. It’s been a while, but we’re back and this time around we welcome our good friend Adrian Leach from the Happy Jazz radio show for a cheeky guest mix. Adrian is certainly no stranger to the genre having collected the black stuff since the early 80’s, and here he supplies us with a quick insight into his own record collection. There’s plenty of rareness in the mix as Mr Leach pulls together an exotic looking tracklist of predominantly European jazz business, definitely not of your standard fare.
