As we awake from our extended New Year slumber, we bring news of a special event this coming Sunday with one of our favourite bands of the moment, Resolution 88. Anyone who has followed our journey over the past three years will no doubt at least be aware of the group, fronted by the talented Mr Tom O’Grady. Well since their last appearance for us back in November, a lot has happened to the young band. They almost immediately gained the support slot for Snarky Puppy’s most recent London date, and having wooed the crowd with their own unique brand of hard-hitting jazz funk, the band soon gained further plaudits from scene stalwarts Snowboy and Craig Charles (who recently interviewed Tom on his BBC Radio 6 radio show). Mr Charles has also been giving tracks from the band’s forthcoming début some spins on the radio and with the release of the album now imminent, we believe it’s only a matter of time before a few more heads turn towards the fantastic sounds of Resolution 88.
Of course, if like us you’ve already had a chance to catch them live, you’re probably itching to see them in the flesh again. Well the good news is, this Sunday the band are not only playing Queen of Hoxton once again, but it’s a first chance to get hold of the aforementioned début before it’s release later this month. As an added bonus to proceedings, Tom has kindly asked our resident DJs Sid and Rob to man the DJ booth before, after and in between the live sets. Advance tickets for the session are only £3 (+ booking fee) from WeGotTickets and if you want to leave it late, it’s still only £5 on the door. We hope you can join us for what promises to be another evening of super nice music.
