Introducing number 69 in our series of jazz mixtapes, this time around selected by Jazz Meet resident and Mukatsuku Records boss Nik Weston and it’s a gorgeous slice of jazzy goodness just waiting to be discovered. We kick off with the Peggy Lee fronted 45 classic “Alright, Okay, You Win’ before a little, rare as hen’s teeth Swedish jazz funk from Svenska Löd Ab ups the tempo. The dance classic “Brotherhood” from Kamal and the Brothers follows before another highly sought after piece from Don Cunningham and his “Tabu” rears it’s head and Larry Ridley and The Crusaders drop further great examples of soul-infused fusion aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Hubert Law’s then gives us a little mellow flute action on the classic “The Baron” before Nik rounds it all off with the epic “Nine” from LaMont Johnson (Check that Fender Rhodes sound!). We hope you enjoy this little selection and thank you for listening. Feel free to drop Nik a comment of two below if you’re digging it and don’t forget to drop into our live event sometime. You’d be most welcome!
