Sneaking in the back door of 2014, we’re back for some more jazz business. With no studio, and technology issues plaguing us, posting has been a bit of a chore of late but don’t fear, resident Mr Sid Ford has got our backs as he digs in the archives to present a lovely little mixtape of assorted jazz! Easing in with a beautiful Latin-flavoured cut from Horatio ‘Chivo’ Borraro, Sid takes us on a trip through his shelves, bringing Pat Martino, Michael Gregory Jackson and Idris Muhammad along for the ride in the opening half. The quality doesn’t waver though as Sid brings forth a rare German date from the Joe Haider Trio and a stormer from Cannonball Adderley and his Quintet. There’s a further summons to the dancefloor with classic Cal Tjader and Horace Silver before we come to a close with Slovenian composer, arranger and sax player Tone JanÅ¡a and a fast and furious version of the standard ‘Compared To What’ by Anita Moore and the TSU Jazz Ensemble. Thanks for listening.
