Jazz Meet resident and Mukatsuku Records boss Nik Weston drops this week’s mix and boy, is it special! Normally we’d be a bit nervous upping a jazz mix on a Friday but this is straight up badass material to make any night on the dancefloor burn. A selection of strictly vinyl treats (just hear those crackles) and mostly phat twelve inches to boot, Nik immerses us in the good stuff straight away with the righteously funky, Mizell produced wonder that is Rance Allen’s “Peace of Mind” before following up with a Ronnie Laws’ jazz boogie monster “Nuthin From Nuthin”. It’s then all about the instrumental fusion, as killer tracks from Bu Bongo, Anansi and everybody’s favourite Brit Funksters Atmosfear all get a rinse, before the Afro Carribean jazz of Marius Cultier and a newly rediscovered gem from Tito Contreas (out now on Jazzman!) take over. Finally we have the stone cold funk stylings of Jabo and Jackie Mitto. We hope you enjoy and thanks again for listening, we do appreciate it!
