Is it February yet? Blimey! First off… a BIG thank you to all who helped us make a storming start to 2012, we certainly couldn’t have done it without you folks and it’s a joy for us to look out to a room of friendly faces each week! Now the relentless group that we are, we’ve got a further four dates in the diary for the month of February. Yes, that means live jazz from the Jazz Meet collective and DJs playing jazz EVERY SUNDAY at The Shoreditch, E1, 3PM till close. In addition to all the usual fun, frolics, cocktail drinking and great, great music, this month we’re pleased to welcome two guest selectors into the fray to give us their own takes on jazz. First up on the 5th will be Analog Jones, one half of Twin Cities and DJ promoter of the legendary London Boglewaltz parties. He’ll
Max O’Donnell and his Jazz, Roots and Grooves project tackle the Herbie Hancock jazz masterpiece ‘Maiden Voyage’ on stage at The Jazz Meet. Recorded live at The Shoreditch, E1 – Sunday 8th January 2012.
That’s right…. who’d have thought it, another year beckons… and we’re a year older. Yes we’re back amongst familiar surroundings for our inaugural event of 2012. And with four dates in January, there’s another four chances to fill your Sunday afternoons with food, drink, laughter and of course plenty of LIVE JAZZ. The residents have been using their festive time off to add some jewels to their already burgeoning collections (Shout out to Jarred on this one, who brought back 60 odd jazz pieces from his Canadian expedition) and this month we also welcome some great guest DJs with Phil Levene (Eclectic Jazz) and deep diggers Alan McKinnon and Rob Le Marchand joining proceedings on selected dates. We also see another return for Nik Woodmansey of Emanative (Currently riding high with his Steve Reid ‘Lions of Judah‘ remake) who seems to have been making us his second home recently! He’ll
We’re nearly there. 2012 is just around the corner, so that means there’s just three more Jazz Meet sessions until the end of the year. And what a year it’s been! Just under twelve months ago we kicked off a little jazz event in the heart of Shoreditch, and through monthly and now weekly stints, we’ve seen it grow into a fully fledged Sunday session (We’ll stop short of calling it an institution just yet!). We’ve had some great DJs and bands drop in over the course of 2011, with so many highlights. The Greg Foat Group dropping in to play a killer selection from his latest Jazzman LP, the birth and subsequent rise of our resident Latin band, Caractacus the Conqueror and the Afro Latin Ensemble (of London) and our charity event for MacMillan Cancer Support where we literally crammed in seven DJs, a band and the crowd! That’s
